Cut Films Competition
We are looking for films that are original, fun and that you really think will help young people to reject smoking. The deadline for entries is 31st August, so why not take on the challenge as part of your summer activities? The best film wins a workshop with a leading UK film director, equipment for your school or youth club, and national publicity.

Heritage Open Days
Thursday 9th - Sunday 12th September, various locations
Heritage Open Days provides visitors with a unique opportunity to explore and enjoy sometimes hidden, often curious and always interesting places in English cities, towns and villages - and completely free of charge.
Locations include:
Bridge house, Village Lock-Up, Brightwalton Eco House, Camp Hopson, Donnington Hospital, and many others.

Whacky Scrap Races - Build a Tank!
Starts Saturday 2 October 2010
10.30am-12.00noon at Denefield School, Tilehurst
Open to teams of 2-6 with children aged 5+ accompanied by an adult. All materials are provided over the 8 weeks. A free crèche is available and transport costs can be covered for those on free school meals and for those with SEN children.

Warhammers at Battle Library
Second Saturday of the month, 10.15am - 12 noon
If your child is aged between 10-15 they may like to join in the Fantasy Battle and Warhammer 40,000 at Battle Library where participants can assemble and paint their own army, then lead it into battle against other competitors. Simply turn up on the day.
Computer Club for Girls and Boys
Starts on 18 and 19 May respectively from 3.15pm to 4.30pm at Denefield School
On this free 8 week block children in Years 5-9 will develop their computer skills on a variety of activities such as designing a magazine on a theme of their choice.

Street Athletics, Pigeons Farm
12 August, 12-4pm
Run by Linford Christie and Darren Campbell, both Gold Olympic champions. The event will involve: 60m race, street dancing, music, circus skills, games, local radio and much more.

Enjoy the delicious organic refreshments in the Lakeside Cafe or bring your own picnic. The newly refurbished Centre has interactive wildlife and natural history displays, jigsaws, brass rubbings and touchy-feely boxes as well as the Discovery Hall which provides a learning space for all! West Berkshire Museum is in Newbury town centre. It is a free Museum and always has free trails and activities for children and families to complete. Padworth Common Nature ReserveThe network of paths takes you through a variety of habitats including heathland, woodland and ponds across an area of 28 hectares (about the size of 14 football pitches). The common is nestled off the Padworth Road which runs between Burghfield and Tadley.
